Message From the Chapter President

Dr. Ammons and Terrance Hunt                                                                         Yolanda and Greg Johnson

May 2009

Dear Fellow Rattlers, Supporters and Friends

In 2008, as the new president of the Dallas/Ft.Worth Chapter of the FAMU National Alumni Association, I challenged you to share in supporting the vision of Dr. James H. Ammons (10th president of FAMU), which was and continues to be to ensure that FAMU continues to be recognized as a leader in higher education both nationally and globally.

I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for stepping up and meeting the challenge.

2008 was a very successful year and helping us to restore that “RATTLER PRIDE” locally, regionally, nationally and globally. The DFW Chapter Highlights for 2008 included hosting Dr. Ammons for a visit, participating in the Inauguration Ceremony for Dr. Ammons as the 10th president of FAMU, participating in over 20 College Fairs and participating in various community service projects including Elementary, Junior High and High School outreach programs.

We also suffered a great loss in 2008 with the passing of our beloved Chapter Vice President, Yolanda “Yogi” Johnson. Let us remember her and carry forth her legacy by remembering she valued, developed and rewarded contributions and talents of all members and acted only with the highest ethical standards; provided coaching, mentoring and feedback to perform at the highest level and celebrated the achievement of others; promoted winning together through leadership, collaboration, open and honest communication, and respect; strove for excellence in her work, products and services to the Chapter while encouraging creative thinking and intelligent risk taking; and cared about and encouraged involvement in our communities in order to build lasting relationships by offering superior service and value.

In keeping with Yolanda’s charge, I continue to solicit your support in becoming a member of the DFW Chapter of the FAMU Alumni Association in which your membership will afford you the opportunity to contribute to our much anticipated success in 2009.

I thank you in advance for your support and participation and look forward to serving you as the Chapter President.

Sincerely,

Terrance G. Hunt, Chapter President
